The Renault FT, usually given in modeling practice as the FT-17, is a French light tank from the end of the First World War. As the first production machine it had its main weapon in a fully rotating turret and a crew of only two men, a driver at the front and a commander in the turret. The layout with the engine at the rear and the fighting compartment at the front became the pattern for later designs, and after the war the machine entered service with a number of states. The model is characterized by the tall track run, which wraps around the whole side of the hull, so the track is visible on a finished model from every angle.
Replacement tracks for a Renault FT model in 1:35 scale. Tracks are among the parts on which the work shows most: they follow the outline of the vehicle, they form its silhouette and they carry the marks of service. The execution, the material and the way of assembly are given by the manufacturer in the instructions, as is the kit the tracks are cut for.
Before gluing, offer the tracks up dry to the running gear and check that they line up and that the length is right. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: cement for polystyrene works only on plastic, for other materials cyanoacrylate is used. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply a primer. A proven procedure is a dark base coat, dry brushing to bring out the edges and finally pigments or earth at the lower part, so that the track does not look freshly made.
The vehicle model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
