An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Chieftain Mk.2 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Takom. The box contains photo-etched parts, clear parts, individual link tracks and decals for several finishes. The turret and the main gun allow elevation and the crew hatches can be fitted open or closed. The exact number of parts is not stated here.
The Chieftain was the British main battle tank of the Cold War, and from the 1960s it formed the backbone of the armored forces of the British Army. It stood out for its steeply sloped frontal armor and its powerful rifled 120 mm gun; another characteristic feature was the reclined position of the driver when the vehicle was closed down, which allowed the silhouette of the front end to be lowered. At the time it appeared it was among the best-armored and most heavily armed tanks in the world, albeit at the cost of greater weight and, at first, a not entirely reliable powerplant. The tank served with the British Army and with a number of export users in the Middle East.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the individual tracks before finishing the hull. Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. British vehicles typically wore a single overall green or a two-color camouflage — after the primer and the gloss coat under the decals, bring out the detail with a wash and add dust, mud and bare-metal wear with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
