An injection-molded plastic kit of the West German Flakpanzer Gepard anti-aircraft tank from Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a plastic kit meant to be glued and sprayed. For the exact contents of the box, meaning the number of parts, the decals and any accessories, follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The Gepard was a Bundeswehr anti-aircraft tank built on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank. In its rotating turret it carried a pair of rapid-fire 35 mm guns together with search and tracking radar (the characteristic antennas at the front and the rear of the turret). Thanks to the radar system and the rapid-fire guns it could destroy low-flying aircraft and helicopters at a range of several kilometers. It served as mobile air defense for armored units for several decades of the Cold War and afterwards.
With armored vehicles, finish the running gear before you close the hull. The turret with its radars and barrels is the focal point, so careful assembly and clean painting are worth the effort. Spray the base coat over a primer; the West German three-color camouflage scheme (bronze green, brown, black) is typical. Build the weathering with a wash in the corners and pigments for dust on the running gear; drybrushing will pick out the edges and the detail of the radar.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
