An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Brückenleger IV b bridgelayer tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The vehicle came about on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank and in place of the turret it carries a folding bridge structure for crossing ditches and water obstacles. The model offers a finely rendered hull, running gear and moving parts of the bridge equipment.
The Brückenleger IV b belonged to the engineer bridgelayer tanks that the German army was to introduce at the start of the Second World War for quickly setting up crossings ahead of advancing units. It grew out of the proven Panzer IV chassis and carried a folding bridge worked by the crew. The vehicle was built only in small numbers and other solutions soon took its place in mass service, yet it represents an interesting example of early German engineer equipment.
Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before the side plates and the bridge frame cover them. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and sand the joints down; assemble the bridge mechanism carefully, so that it stays faithful in its working. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting. The early German gray will stand out with gentle lightening of the upper surfaces by airbrush and with final washes and pigments that add dust and mud to the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
