This is not a conventional plastic model but a kit of plastic bricks from the Polish maker COBI. The parts are of colored plastic and join by clipping together, and the build proceeds according to illustrated instructions. The real subject is the German two-axle Ommr 32 type freight railway car, that is, a vehicle that appears in museum and modeling contexts mainly in the role of a carrier of heavy loads. The 1:35 scale is the same one military equipment is commonly built in, so the car can serve as a striking complement to a collection or a scene.
The cars of the Ommr class belonged among the open freight cars of the German railways of the 1930s and 1940s. They were standardized two-axle cars with low sides, produced in large series and used for bulk and individual consignments alike. It was exactly their low loading floor that made them a common means of moving wheeled and tracked vehicles by rail, because loading and securing were quick and called for no special equipment. Rail transport was in its day substantially faster and gentler on equipment over long distances than driving under its own power, and freight cars of this type therefore belong among the characteristic backdrops of period photographs.
The build goes according to numbered instructions from the frame and the running gear to the loading floor and the sides. It pays off to sort the parts out in advance and to work on a flat surface. The finished car is strong and will take handling, and it can be carried and placed in a composition with other models. The joints stay demountable, so the model can be dismantled at any time. Wipe the dust off with a soft brush.
