An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian C-1 Ariete main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the angular welded turret with its long 120 mm gun, the hull with torsion bar suspension and the running gear with seven road wheels on each side. The box holds gray plastic on several sprues, a decal sheet and tracks; the exact numbers of parts and schemes differ between releases.
The C-1 Ariete is an Italian main battle tank developed at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s by companies of the Italian defense industry. It is the last of the generation of European tanks of its day and the only one Italy developed entirely on its own. It carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun, a modern fire control system and composite armor. The Ariete forms the armored core of the Italian army and has also been deployed on missions abroad.
Assemble the running gear, the wheels and the tracks first, while the hull is still open and accessible. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and sand the marks left by the ejector pins down carefully. Lay down primer and then the finish; the Ariete usually wears the typical Italian three-color camouflage of green, brown and black. Bring out the panel lines and details with a dark wash and dust the lower areas and the running gear with pigments for mud and dust effects, which give the vehicle convincing weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
