A turned metal barrel of the 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun for a King Tiger tank model in 1:35 scale, with a printed muzzle brake and four metal shells.
Responsibility details are not available.
The King Tiger was a German heavy tank from the end of the Second World War. Its main weapon was the 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun: the caliber is 8.8 cm and the figure L/71 gives the barrel length in multiples of the caliber, that is seventy-one calibers. The long barrel with its muzzle brake is the first thing a viewer notices on the model, and at the same time the part that gives away an inaccurate build most of all.
A turned metal gun barrel, a printed muzzle brake and four metal shells. The metal barrel is round over its whole length and has no longitudinal seam that would need sanding away, and its weight holds the gun in the position you want. The muzzle brake is made by printing, which lets it carry fine shapes with no need for a split mold. The shells are metal and suit the interior of the turret as well as a figure or a diorama beside the vehicle.
On the printed part, first remove the remains of the print supports and sand their marks down lightly. Degrease the metal parts and apply a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint holds badly and rubs off during handling. Glue the barrel and the brake with super glue or with a two-part adhesive, because plastic cement has no effect on metal. Try the seating of the barrel in the turret dry and check that the axis of the barrel points straight, both from the side and from above.
For builders of a King Tiger model in 1:35 scale. The tank kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
