An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank Sd.Kfz.182 (Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.B) in 1:35 scale, in the standard version referring to the fighting in the Ardennes in 1944. Rye Field Model added a metal gun barrel, workable individual link tracks (the Gg type), photo-etched parts, drive sprockets built from parts with several types of teeth, movable torsion bars and hatches that can be built open or closed. The first batch also offers a 3D-printed muzzle brake.
The Tiger II, nicknamed the King Tiger, was the last German heavy tank to go into series production in the Second World War; it entered service in 1944. It stood out for its heavy frontal armor (around 150 mm) and an improved 8.8 cm gun, which at long range went through practically everything that stood against it. Most production machines carried the Henschel turret. The deployment in the Ardennes at the turn of 1944 and 1945 is among the best known actions of these exceptionally powerful but heavy and unreliable machines.
Work from the bottom up: first the running gear with the movable torsion bars, and only then the hull. Glue with thin cement for plastic and put the workable tracks together patiently link by link. Degrease the metal barrel before gluing and coat it with a metal primer. The Ardennes winter favors a three-tone camouflage (yellow, green, brown) as well as winter finishes — paint with an airbrush, then a gloss coat, the decals and a matte coat. The large surfaces of the King Tiger are a fine opportunity for washes, filters and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
