King Tiger - individual track links 1:35 (Tamiya)

A track accessory, not a model of the vehicle. This set from the Japanese maker Tamiya contains individual plastic track links for the German King Tiger heavy tank in 1:35 scale. The track is put together link by link just as on the real vehicle, so that the result looks heavy and faithful, with a realistic curve of the track over the road wheels.

What the set is for

Individual links replace the rubber or split track from the box and make it possible to create a natural sag on the upper run. That is one of the most conspicuous features of heavy tanks and gives a model weight and realism in scale. Building and painting tips

• Cut the links off, clean them up and join them with plastic cement
• The track can be left slightly flexible at first and shaped into a natural sag
• Paint it in a base metallic shade and pick out the wear on the running surfaces
• A wash and pigments will add mud and dust to the tracks
