Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German heavy tank Tiger II (King Tiger) in the variant with the early turret of Porsche design, from Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The model captures the characteristic rounded front of the turret, different from the angular Henschel turret. The kit is meant to be glued together and painted and belongs to the classic, easily buildable Tamiya production.
The Tiger II was a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War with massive armor and a long 8.8 cm gun. The first fifty or so vehicles received a turret designed by Porsche with a rounded front plate; later production moved to the more robust Henschel turret. The Porsche turret is therefore the recognition feature of early King Tiger machines. The tank was exceptionally well protected for its time and its gun could destroy opponents at long range, but the high weight worsened its mobility and its fuel consumption.
Assemble the running gear before you close the hull; on the large interleaved road wheels take care over alignment and even seating. Use thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush — a dark yellow base with camouflage stripes and patches in green and brown suggests itself. Bring out the rounded Porsche turret with a fine lightening of the edges. You complete the patina with a dark wash into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
