A precisely turned metal barrel for the Russian heavy machine gun KPV of 14.5 mm caliber in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand Master. The barrel has elongated cooling slots in the cooling jacket and is intended for the ZPU-1, ZPU-2 and ZPU-4 anti-aircraft systems. The set combines the turned metal part with a small photo-etched piece and a resin element, so it replaces the original plastic barrel with a faithful replica.
The KPV is a Soviet heavy machine gun of 14.5 mm caliber developed at the close of the Second World War. In the anti-aircraft mountings of the ZPU series it was fitted in single-barrel (ZPU-1), twin-barrel (ZPU-2) and quadruple-barrel (ZPU-4) builds and became a widespread weapon against low-flying aircraft and lightly armored targets. Characteristic is its perforated cooling jacket around the barrel.
Cut off the original plastic barrel and carefully drill the hole for the new part. Glue the metal barrel, the photo-etch and any resin element with cyanoacrylate. Before painting, apply a base coat (primer) to the metal and spray thin coats with an airbrush; the perforated jacket stands out after a gentle wash to bring it up.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
