It is the cross-country 4x4 variant (the letter A meaning all-wheel drive) of a heavy truck that served the Wehrmacht on the Eastern and Western Fronts during the Second World War. The exact contents of the particular package (decals, any figures) are given in the instructions in the box.
The L-4500 was a heavy truck built by the Mercedes-Benz company from the end of the 1930s. It was powered by a diesel engine and was built in two basic versions: the road-going L-4500S with rear axle drive and the cross-country L-4500A with drive to all four wheels and a reduction gear for going off the road. Thanks to its large payload and its mobility over rough ground it was among the important supply and transport vehicles of the German army; it was used to carry materiel, equipment and troops.
With a truck it pays to assemble the chassis, the axles and the engine section carefully before you seat the bed and the cab. The canvas tarpaulin and the wooden drop sides of the bed are brought to life by shading and by a dry brush, which will bring out the texture. Complement the base dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) or gray finish with panel shading, dark washes in the joints and dust pigments on the chassis and the fenders for a faithful, in-service appearance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
