An injection-molded plastic kit of the French main battle tank Leclerc Series 2 from the manufacturer Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The modern tooling captures the features typical of the Series 2, among them the smoke grenade launchers, the stowage boxes, the shorter and longer snorkel and the air-conditioning unit. The 120 mm smoothbore gun with its thermal sleeve is faithfully rendered, and clear parts for the lights and periscopes and a commander figure are included.
The Leclerc is a modern French main battle tank with high performance and an emphasis on mobility. It is driven by a capable diesel engine that gives it high speed on the road as well as cross-country, and it is armed with a French 120 mm smoothbore gun. The Series 2 form brought a number of improvements, including air conditioning to cool the onboard electronics and further changes to the equipment. The Leclerc ranks among the best Western tank hardware of its generation.
Finish the running gear and the lower hull first, then close the hull up. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, and mask the clear parts for the lights and periscopes and glue them only at the end. Lay a primer under the paint and spray with an airbrush; it suits the three-color NATO camouflage as well as the desert scheme. For the patina use fine washes in the seams and earth and dust pigments on the running gear and the underside. Paint the commander figure separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
