An injection-molded plastic kit of the German main battle tank Leopard 2A4 in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The model captures the characteristic angular turret of the A4 version with its long 120 mm gun, the massive hull and the running gear. The box holds plastic sprues, tracks and a decal sheet for several countries that operated the tank; paints and glue are not included.
The Leopard 2 is a German main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei, which entered service at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. The A4 version is among the most widely used forms and was built in the greatest numbers; it is marked by a digital fire control system and a 120 mm smoothbore gun. The Leopard 2A4 served and still serves with the armies of a number of European and non-European states and became one of the benchmarks of Western tank design.
It is practical to assemble and paint the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before closing the hull and fitting the side skirts. Use liquid cement on the plastic, sand the seams and treat the whole model with a base coat. Lay the base on with an airbrush for an even covering coat. The relief of the tank comes into its own after dark washes into the recesses and rivets, transitions of shade are handled with drybrushing, and the dust on the running gear and the lower hull comes from dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
