1:35 Leopard 2A6 Captured Version with T-80 Wheels is a plastic kit of the German main battle tank from Rye Field Model, which can also be built as a captured machine with road wheels from a T-80.
Responsibility details are not available.
This modern injection-molded kit from Rye Field Model captures one of the most closely watched tanks of recent times. The set makes it possible to build the Leopard 2A6 in its standard form, or exactly the machine that was put on show in Moscow in May 2024 with its damaged road wheels replaced by wheels from a T-80 tank. Both types of wheel are therefore in the box, along with workable track links, photo-etched sheet, printed parts and a decal sheet.
The Leopard 2A6 is a German main battle tank with a lengthened 120 mm smoothbore gun, wedge-shaped armor on the turret front and a modern fire control system. Since 2023 it has also served with Ukrainian units, where it met intensive combat use for the first time. The captured machine on show is a very specific subject in time: it carries an improvised repair and a mixture of original and foreign components.
Set the running gear and the torsion bars in place and let them cure before you close up the hull, as otherwise the tracks will not line up straight. The links join more easily in longer runs on a flat surface. An airbrush and thin coats suit the base shade, and the weathering then stands out with washes into the recesses and dust pigments on the lower hull. Give the different wheels from the T-80 a different degree of wear, so that the improvisation is obvious at first glance.
What goes in the box are sprues, not a finished tank: you assemble and paint the model yourself, and paints and glue are not in the package.
