A kit of the Leopard 2A6 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. Tamiya is one of the brands valued for accurate fit of the parts and clear instructions, so this is a model whose build does not turn into a fight with the material. Check the specific contents of the package and the decal schemes offered against the details on the packaging.
The Leopard 2A6 is the development peak of the classic Leopard 2 series. It can be told from the A5 version above all by the longer 120 mm smoothbore gun with an L/55 barrel, which replaced the shorter L/44 barrel and raised the muzzle velocity of the round. A characteristic feature is the wedge-shaped add-on armor on the front of the turret, which gives the tank its typical pointed silhouette. The vehicle is powered by a turbocharged diesel engine, the steering is hydromechanical and the crew numbers four. The Leopard 2A6 serves with the German army and with other users who upgraded older versions to this standard.
Finish the running gear with the wheels and the tracks before you fit the side skirts, otherwise reaching the running gear becomes awkward. The long barrel is the most conspicuous feature of the model, so pay attention to its being on the centerline and not bent. For the three-color camouflage an airbrush and masking with a soft compound work well, so that the transitions match the scale. A wash brings out the panel lines and the rivets, and fine dust on the lower hull and the tracks then settles the model into reality.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
