An injection-molded plastic kit of the Canadian version of the Leopard 2A6M main battle tank, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model has a slide-molded turret and lower hull, photo-etched parts and full-length tracks. The exact number of parts and the range of markings depend on the particular release.
The Leopard 2A6M CAN is the Canadian modification of the German Leopard 2A6 tank. The letter M in the designation refers to the strengthened mine protection of the hull floor (Minenschutz), which increases the crew's resistance to mines and improvised explosive devices. The Canadian Army deployed these tanks in Afghanistan, where they added slat armor against shaped-charge munitions and modified equipment. The main armament is a 120 mm smoothbore gun with a long barrel.
First assemble and paint the running gear, then fit the full-length tracks - with hard tracks it helps to paint them before they go on. Glue the parts with a liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. After the base coat and a varnish, bring out the panel lines and the details with a wash, and apply pigments to the running gear and the lower areas for the dust effects that match service in the arid terrain of Afghanistan.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
