A resin accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. According to the name of the product it contains twenty lifting eyes for vehicles of the Panther, Jagdpanther, Tiger II and Jagdtiger family. These are small parts with which the simplified plastic eyes on the hull and the turret of a model are replaced.
Lifting eyes served for handling heavy assemblies during assembly and repairs and on the real vehicle they were fairly slender. In injected plastic they tend to be massive instead, because a mold cannot create a through hole without a sliding core and the eye is therefore cast as a solid face or merely as a suggested outline. This is exactly where a resin casting clearly wins, because the eye can have a genuinely open shape and a thin profile. The higher number of pieces in the package allows a whole model to be fitted and a margin kept for parts that get lost or damaged along the way.
Work over a flat tray with raised edges and use tweezers that open easily, so that a part does not fly off. Separate the eyes from the casting block with a fresh blade, not with nippers. Cut the original plastic eyes off and level the surface. After degreasing in warm water with detergent and drying, glue them with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, so that a drop does not flood the detail. Before it sets, check that all the eyes stand at the same angle; any asymmetry is immediately visible on a finished model. Begin the painting with primer; the eyes then follow the shade of the hull and are brought out with a light dry brush along the top edge.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
