An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli tank M-51 Super Sherman in 1:35 scale from Academy. The model captures the strikingly reworked turret with its massive 105 mm gun and the modern HVSS running gear. The package contains parts for the hull and the turret, tracks, a decal sheet and, according to the manufacturer, figures and equipment accessories as well. It is a popular and easily recognized subject of Israeli armor.
The M-51, nicknamed the Isherman, was a deep Israeli upgrade of the American medium tank Sherman. Into its cast turret it received a powerful 105 mm gun of French origin, modified for this installation, and under the hull the modern HVSS suspension with wide tracks. The reworked drive train and armament made it an effective tool of the Israeli armored forces in the conflicts of the 1960s and 1970s. The characteristic silhouette is completed by the large counterweights on the rear of the turret.
Assemble the running gear with the HVSS suspension and the tracks, and only then close up the hull; the interior does not have to be worked out in detail, because it is largely hidden. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, and fill and sand the joints. Lay down a base coat (primer) and spray the typical Israeli gray-sand color (Sinai Grey) with an airbrush; you add the weathering with a dark wash, emphasis on the edges and dust pigments on the running gear.
