An accessory set from the Czech brand Black Dog in 1:35 for a model of the American M-ATV armored all-terrain vehicle in the signals configuration marked A. It is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory for it: it adds the kit and cargo that turn a model into a particular machine in the field.
The M-ATV came about as the answer to two conflicting needs of the US Army in Afghanistan. The heavy armored vehicles of the MRAP class did protect their crews against mines and improvised devices, but in mountain terrain and on narrow roads they were unusably large and unwieldy. The M-ATV is therefore a substantially more agile four-wheeled machine with a tough V-shaped hull, independent suspension and a lot of travel, which kept its high resistance to a blast under the vehicle. The signals machines additionally carry communications equipment and can be told by the antennas and boxes on the hull.
The M-ATV is a vehicle of dusty roads, so it is dust and fine earthy pigments that decide the result. It pays to paint the accessories and the cargo separately and with more contrast than the base desert coat has, and only at the end to tie the whole model together with a shared layer of dust. Light rubbing through belongs on the edges of the fenders and in the places where the crew climbs in.
It is an accessory for a model, not a model of the vehicle on its own.
