This kit from the AK Interactive brand captures the cargo version of the M1008 with benches for troops. In the box are over one hundred and fifty injection-molded plastic parts, photo-etched sheet, masks for the glazing and printed cartons with field rations. The chassis and the cab both have a worked-out interior, the front wheels can be assembled turned, the tailgate is movable and the benches can be built folded as well as set out. The decals cover five machines: two of the US Army, two of the Navy and one in service with the peacekeeping forces in the Balkans.
The M1008 came out of the CUCV program, with which the US Army replaced its older light off-road vehicles with production machinery in the 1980s. The vehicle is based on a civilian Chevrolet range and from 1983 to 1987, together with its sister versions, almost seventy-five thousand of them were built. Besides the cargo M1008, the family included the M1009 utility, the M1010 ambulance and container carriers. The vehicles served in the Persian Gulf, in Somalia and in Bosnia, and a number of them later entered the inventory of allies.
Finish and paint the frame, the axles and the inside of the cab before you close the body up. Degrease the photo-etched parts before gluing. The enclosed masks make the work on the glazing simpler. The camouflage will take a single-color green as well as a three-color pattern, and the vehicle suits a restrained patina of dust on the fenders and under the bumper.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
