This product is not a kit of a vehicle. It is a set of replacement wheels cast in resin for a plastic model of the American M1224 armored car of the M-pro family, that is a vehicle of the MRAP category. The wheels are cast sagged: the tire has a realistic deformation where it meets the road, matching the weight of a heavy armored vehicle.
An MRAP is a vehicle weighing many tons and its tires visibly spread and flatten at the ground. The plastic wheels from a kit are perfectly round all the way round, and the model then looks as if it were floating above its base. A resin casting removes that shortcoming and at the same time offers a crisper tread pattern, more legible lettering on the sidewall and cleaner detail on the rim, because the mold is not constrained by ejector pins the way it is with injection-molded plastic. A casting in one piece also has no mold seam running down the middle of the tire.
The abbreviation MRAP denotes a category of armored cars with increased resistance to mines and improvised explosive devices. The typical features are a V-shaped hull that deflects the blast wave away from the crew compartment, high clearance and massive axles with off-road tires. The American armed forces deployed these vehicles on a large scale where improvised devices were the main threat, and in modeling they are among the popular subjects of modern wheeled equipment.
First wash the wheels in warm soapy water so that the mold release from the mold disappears, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw and true the seating surface up wet and with respiratory protection. When gluing, watch that the flattened part faces down and that all the wheels are in one plane. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tire a dark gray, because pure black looks flat on a model. Paint the rims separately, ideally before they are fitted. Apply dust and mud with pigments into the tread, onto the sidewalls and into the wheel arches.
This is a set of resin replacement parts, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
