An injection-molded plastic kit of the M1A2 Abrams tank in the TUSK II version in 1:35 scale from Academy. The set contains parts in hard plastic, clear parts for the vision blocks, a photo-etched fret and a decal sheet with several marking options. The model is built unglued and unpainted.
The M1A2 Abrams is the main battle tank of the United States Army. The TUSK (Tank Urban Survival Kit) adds reactive armor tiles to the sides of the hull, shields for the machine guns and other elements that increase survivability in an urban setting. The tank is powered by a gas turbine and is armed with a 120 mm gun.
It is best to assemble the running gear and the hull before closing the upper parts. Use liquid cement for plastic and a base coat of primer. A sand or desert camouflage shows well once washes and pigments for dust and mud effects are applied. Accentuate the reactive tiles and the TUSK fittings with dry brushing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
