It is a half-track carrying an anti-aircraft gun of 40 mm caliber. The kit is richly equipped: metal barrels, photo-etched parts, a detailed engine and the interior of the driver's compartment; the anti-aircraft gun can be rotated through 360 degrees and its elevation set, and the mount built in the firing or the travel position. The M34 was a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (Gun Motor Carriage) on the chassis of an American half-track. It arose by converting earlier half-track anti-aircraft vehicles, when a single automatic gun of 40 mm caliber of the Bofors type replaced the original combined armament. The vehicles were converted in the early 1950s and were deployed in the Korean War, where they were among the most heavily armed versions of American half-tracks.
Paint the interior of the driver's compartment and the engine before you close them up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and the photo-etched elements and the metal barrels with cyanoacrylate. The open gun mount is a rewarding place for bringing out detail: a wash into the recesses, fine chipping on the exposed edges and dust pigments on the running gear to match field service.
