This basic detailing set from DEF Model combines resin and photo-etched parts for a model of the American M48A3 Patton tank, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit on its own but an accessory that raises the fidelity and the level of detail of the base model; the set brings for instance turret parts and small items such as tow cable brackets and jerrycan holders. The parts follow the Dragon kit.
The M48A3 Patton was an American tank used among other places in the war in Vietnam. The A3 version received a diesel engine and characteristic items of equipment; a typical mark is the cast hull and the turret with its rounded shapes. These vehicles carried a range of small fittings and kit that bring a model to life.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up; bend the photo-etched parts on a photo-etch bending tool. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The cast surfaces of the turret come out well after priming, lightening and a patina of washes and pigments; paint the small fittings separately for better contrast.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
