Injection-molded plastic kit of the heavy M88A1G recovery vehicle in the German army version, in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. The set contains photo-etched parts and thread for a realistic tow cable, belt-style link tracks and markings for several Bundeswehr vehicles. The model has an adjustable dozer blade, a movable A-frame boom and hatches and doors that open.
The M88 is an American tracked recovery vehicle built on running gear components of the Patton series of tanks. The M88A1G version is the German upgrade of the M88A1 with additional equipment and changes for service with the Bundeswehr. The machine is used to recover and tow damaged vehicles, to change engines and as a mobile crane; its heavy winch and A-frame let it pull and lift loads of many tons.
Assemble the running gear and the lower hull tub first, and only then close the hull up. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Once the base color and a coat under the decals are on, bring the model to life with washes and pigments: on a recovery vehicle, mud and dust effects, oily traces around the winch and wear on the blade stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
