An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli Merkava Mk.IID main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Academy. The set holds plastic sprues, a photo-etched metal part and a sheet of water-slide decals. The model captures the characteristic features of the IID version, including the modular composite armor of the hull as well as the turret, which in reality allowed damaged segments to be exchanged quickly, and the typical flat lower profile of the side armor.
The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank with an unconventional layout, in which the engine sits at the front and room usable for the crew or for carrying is created at the rear. The Mk.II version was improved step by step; the Mk.IID sub-version introduced modular composite armor, which makes maintenance and repair in the field easier.
Finish the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull. We recommend thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush. For the Israeli Sinai desert shade, lightening the large surfaces and weathering with washes and dust pigments on the running gear suit well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
