A photo-etched metal set in 1:35 scale from the Chinese brand E.T. Model, which has long devoted itself to accessories for models of military vehicles. The fret carries a fine etched structure with cut-outs imitating the shaped leaves of the modern camouflage netting used by NATO armies. The designation Type.2 distinguishes the second of the patterns offered in the same range — it differs from the Type.1 variant in the drawing of the cut-outs, so you can choose according to the overall feel of the scene. The set is a universal one and does not belong to one particular kit.
A camouflage net breaks up the clean outlines of a vehicle and is one of the few accessories that transform the look of a model at first glance. Plastic cannot manage a detail like this and fabric tends to be too coarse in this scale; photo-etched metal is thin enough to look convincing and keeps its position once formed. It finds a use thrown over the turret, the superstructure, the load or the crates on the fenders, but it will serve just as well as a separate diorama item over supplies or a shelter.
Before forming it, it is a good idea to anneal the part briefly over a flame and let it cool — the metal softens and holds a fold better without springing back. Form the net gradually, directly on the model, so that it follows its shapes, and fix it with cyanoacrylate or in spots with a two-part epoxy. Start the painting with a base coat meant for metal, otherwise the finish does not hold. Then come a spray coat in camouflage shades, a dark wash in the cut-outs to bring the structure out and finally the addition of scattered foliage or narrow strips of fabric, which break up the regularity of the etched pattern.
