An add-on track set in 1:35 scale for a model of the Soviet experimental Object 279 heavy tank with its four tracks.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Object 279 was a Soviet experimental heavy tank of the late 1950s and never went beyond the prototype stage. It differed from everything else running at the time: under its rounded hull it had two pairs of tracks side by side. The four tracks spread the weight over a large area, so the machine was meant to stay up even on soft ground where an ordinary heavy tank would sink in. The running gear is the most striking thing on the model, which is why it pays to take trouble over the tracks.
Fit the tracks only once the road wheels are finished and the drive sprocket and the idler wheel sit firmly in line. On four-track running gear, work out the order of the steps in advance so that you can still paint the inner faces. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder. The material of the parts and the recommended glue are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Wash and degrease the tracks before painting.
Apply a dark base, highlight the upper faces once it has dried and add dust to match the setting you place the model in. With the inner pair of tracks, bear in mind that they are partly hidden, so heavy weathering would look out of place there. Shine belongs only on the mating surfaces and on the sides of the guide horns.
The set suits modelers who build Soviet postwar vehicles and want to replace the kit tracks on this unusual machine. Paints, glue and other building materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
