An SX-Art paint mask for the model of the Japanese B5N2 Type 97 carrier bomber in 1:35 scale. It helps with spraying the finish and the glazing of the cockpit. The set is intended for the Border kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This aid from SX-Art belongs to the 1:35 model of the B5N2 Type 97 aircraft, to which the Allies assigned the code name Kate. The target kit is Border. The large scale for an aircraft is not a mistake: a model of this type really is made in it, and accessories for it exist in several lines.
The B5N2 was a three-seat carrier attack and torpedo machine of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It was an all-metal low-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear and a long glazed canopy, and in its day it was among the most modern aircraft of its category. It was in service from the end of the 1930s and it became famous above all for the strikes flown from the decks of aircraft carriers in the first months of the war in the Pacific. It is exactly the long canopy with its many frames that makes painting it a tough job.
On aircraft, masking most often concerns the frames of the canopy. Lay the strips exactly along the engraved lines, press them down with a fingernail through a soft cloth and only then spray. Apply the interior shade of the cockpit first and the exterior color only after it. Once the mask is off it is worth polishing the glazing and checking whether any dust got under the edge.
Only the mask is included, not the plastic parts of the aircraft.
