A late running gear bump stop for the Panther tank, 1:35 scale: a replacement for the softly shaped part from the base kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement bump stop for the trailing arm for a model of the Panther tank, in the late form according to the name. It serves to rework a model already under construction and is fitted to the hull side at the end station of the suspension travel.
German factories continuously revised the form of small welded assemblies so that production would be simpler and material would be saved. The element limiting the travel of the arm went through that too, so the later piece differs from the older one in outline and in the way it is attached. On a model it is one of the details by which a connoisseur tells whether the build matches the period declared. At the same time the changes were not introduced overnight, so machines with both the older and the newer solution meet on photographs.
First clean the area on the hull side and rid it of the remains of the original part. Offer the replacement up dry and check the distance from the road wheel; only then apply a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Remove any glue residue on the surrounding surface before it starts to harden. Apply the primer in thin coats, so that the texture of the weld is not lost. A dry brush in a lighter shade then lifts the edges nicely and the whole area stops looking flat.
