The Pattern 1920 armored car came out of the interwar British design series built on the proven chassis of the Rolls-Royce luxury car. A tall cylindrical turret, a long hood and an open rear platform gave the vehicle an unmistakable look. The machines served with British units mainly in the Middle East, in India and in North Africa, where the beginning of the Second World War caught them as well. It was precisely for use in the desert that low-pressure balloon tires were used, helping the vehicle manage soft ground. Today the vehicle is a rewarding subject for a diorama from the colonial and early war period.
Vehicles in a desert setting tended to be covered in fine light dust, which holds mainly in the corners and around the running gear.
