Wheels with the Fulda off-road tread for models of the light Kübelwagen Type 82 built from Tamiya kits, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kübelwagen was designed by Ferdinand Porsche on the basis of the civilian Beetle, and the result exceeded expectations. An air-cooled four-cylinder at the rear, a weight of barely seven hundred kilograms and reduction gears in the rear hubs made a vehicle with two driven wheels into an unexpectedly capable off-road machine, which managed roads where heavier automobiles sank in. From 1940 to the end of the war around fifty thousand of them were built and they served absolutely everywhere, from African sand to Russian mud.
Just because the vehicle was light, the tires played a large part in its cross-country mobility, and a whole range of patterns was offered. This item carries the second of the off-road treads supplied by the Fulda tire works and is prepared for the kits of the Japanese brand that has had this vehicle in its range for a long time. Anyone building a Kübelwagen into a diorama will appreciate that the tread can be pressed into modeling putty and a track thereby created that fits the wheels on the model exactly.
The Kübelwagen tends to be heavily dusted in photographs, because its low weight let it go even where nobody bothered with a road. Use a light dust on the underside of the vehicle, but do not forget that the wheels turn, so the deposit on the tread should be thinner and more irregular than on the fenders. The spare wheel on the front of the vehicle, by contrast, stays evenly dusted.
