This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter presents the Chinese Type 59 towed field gun of 130 mm in 1:35 scale. The model offers a well-broken-up carriage with movable splitting trails, a two-part gun barrel with a muzzle brake, a thin gun shield, photo-etched parts and rubber tires.
The Type 59 is the Chinese version of the Soviet 130 mm M-46 gun. It combines the 130 mm ordnance with a carriage derived from the Type 60. The result is a weapon with a range comparable to the M-46 but with a lower weight of around 6.3 tons. The gun was widespread in the artillery and used by a number of armies.
Take care over the fit of the carriage and the splitting trails so that the model stands steadily. Fit the rubber tires only after painting. A single-color finish is brought to life by shading the surfaces, a wash into the recesses and light dust effects with pigments. A colored primer on the plastic is the answer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
