A turned metal barrel for the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 gun with a late-pattern muzzle brake for a model of the Tiger I tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Tiger I is a German heavy tank of the Second World War and its most conspicuous feature is the long barrel of its 88 mm gun. The designation L/56 gives the length of the barrel in calibers, that is how long the barrel is in relation to its own caliber. At the end of the barrel sits a muzzle brake, which diverted part of the escaping gases to the sides and reduced the recoil; its form changed during production, so it is exactly what lets you tell the machines apart.
The set brings a turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale with a late-pattern muzzle brake. Metal holds a perfectly straight shape, the muzzle is genuinely drilled out and the surface is smooth along the whole length, so there is nothing on the barrel to sand or fill. On a dominant part that everyone sees on the model, that shows at first glance.
Cut the plastic barrel off the model and drill out the opening in the turret mantlet so that the spigot of the metal part seats without force. Try the fit dry and make sure the barrel points straight and is not twisted. Metal does not hold polystyrene cement, so use super glue or two-part epoxy. Before painting, wash and degrease the barrel and apply a base coat intended for metal; the wear and the chipped finish on the muzzle brake will then come out well.
The tank model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
