This plastic kit in 1:35 scale treats the TACAM T-60, a Romanian tank destroyer of the Second World War period. The 1:35 scale is the most widespread one for tracked vehicles, so the model fits well into a collection and into a diorama. The exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are stated on the packaging of the kit. The model is intended to be glued and sprayed.
The TACAM T-60 was an improvised tank destroyer that came about by rebuilding a captured Soviet T-60 light tank. The original turret was removed and an open armored superstructure with a captured gun of 76.2 mm caliber was fitted onto the hull. The result was a light vehicle with a fairly powerful main weapon but with minimal protection for the crew, which could be built from whatever was at hand. Only a limited number of vehicles came about, and it is a typical example of the improvised conversions that smaller armies without their own development capacity resorted to at the time.
Work from the running gear up: fit the wheels and tracks and check that the whole chassis seats level, otherwise the model stands crooked in a display case. An open superstructure means you can see inside, so spray and fit the inner surfaces and the gun mount before you close it up. After the base coat it pays to shade the individual areas, so that the surface does not come across as flat. Build the weathering up in layers: first a dark wash in the seams and rivets, then a dry brush on the edges and finally pigments on the chassis and the lower hull. Keep the dust and mud mainly on the running gear and only suggest them on the vertical surfaces.
