A plastic kit of the Russian T-72B1 tank in 1:35 scale, fitted out with a mine plow at the front and with slat armor.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-72 is one of the most widely used tanks of the second half of the twentieth century and it still serves today. The T-72B series brought reinforced turret protection and further changes compared with the older machines, and the B1 designation is one of the production variants of this series. The look of the tank changes according to the equipment it takes into the field.
The mine plow is hung on the front of the vehicle and, as the tank advances, it plows the mines out of the strip of ground the tank is about to drive over and pushes them aside, clear of its path. Slat armor, on the other hand, is protection against shaped charge warheads: bars hung at a distance from the armor itself are meant to break up or set off the warhead before it reaches the surface of the vehicle. Both fittings give the tank a distinctive outline that an ordinary kit does not offer.
The plow and the bars are made up of small parts and with them it is symmetry that counts: set them up dry and make sure they sit square to the hull, because a crookedly glued bar screen shows at first glance. It pays to paint them separately, as otherwise the airbrush cannot reach behind the bars. At the end it works well to pick out the edges and to lay a deposit of dust and mud onto the running gear and the plow.
Paints, glue and filler are not included, unless stated otherwise.
