This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German anti-aircraft tank Flakpanzer 38(t) Gepard (Sd.Kfz.140) in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Italeri. According to the manufacturer it contains link and length tracks and decals for several marking variants. The model captures the characteristic folding armored superstructure around the weapon.
The Flakpanzer 38(t) came about during the Second World War on the proven chassis of the Pz.38(t) light tank of Czechoslovak origin. On a rotating platform protected by shields it carried a 2 cm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun and was meant to protect armored units and convoys from attacks from above. The reliability and mobility of the chassis made it a practical, if only makeshift, solution for air defense.
Paint the running gear and the interior of the fighting compartment before closing the superstructure. Assemble the link and length tracks and drape them over the road wheels before painting. Glue the plastic with liquid cement and spray the kit over a primer. The open platform with its shields invites detail; finish the weathering with a wash into the recesses and with pigments for dust and mud.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
