Wheels tend to be the first thing the eye notices on a finished model, and yet they get the least attention in painting. With a collapsed tire that goes double: the folds in the wall create shadows which vanish in flat black and which, by contrast, come alive once the base is laid in a gray-brown tone and the hollows are only gently darkened. Dry pigment settled in the grooves of the profile does the rest.

This item offers the second of three tread designs, in the version for the early rendering of the light armored car Sd.Kfz 222. The rubber is modeled flat, that is slumped over the rim and buckled all the way round, which is the state a vehicle reaches after a hit, after standing a long while or after running over splinters. The rendering of the same range standing beside it, with mere pressing down, shows how large the difference in shape between the two is.

According to the name the package is made up of four wheels and one more for the spare. The spare piece was carried on the subject outside the hull and it is often worth shading it differently from the rest, because it faded in the sun and was not smeared with mud from the road.

The set is listed in the variant for the Tamiya kit. It is good to try the fit before painting, so that any cleaning up of a mark left by the gate can be done on a bare part.

Early examples of this armored car appeared in the very first campaigns and their silhouette was set by a many-sided open turret with a 2 cm weapon and a machine gun beside it. A folding wire screen above it protected the crew from overhead and is among the most striking features of any build.
