The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a light German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, the Sd.Kfz. 10 a light half-track tractor of the same weight class. The two vehicles were close in chassis: at the rear a tracked chassis carried them, at the front an ordinary axle with wheels on tires. The front wheels were not powered and served for steering, so there is nothing mechanically complicated about them, but the viewer has them constantly in sight in profile and from the front.
These are replacement front wheels in 1:35, that is an exchange for the parts from the base kit. The name marks a less usual rendering of the off-road tread and links it with Continental tires. The choice of tread is just the main reason such a set is bought: the design of the tread, the shape of the sidewall and the division of the rim are among the details by which a finished model reads as a particular machine from a photograph, and not merely as a general type.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the tread is not damaged. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material given on the package; the exact procedure follows the manufacturer's instructions. Do not spray the tires pure black, as a muted dark gray looks more truthful at this scale. A dry brush with a dust shade around the circumference of the tread gives the wheels depth; separate the rim from the tire in color and mask its edge off while spraying.
What is supplied is the wheels alone. The vehicle kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
