The range of front wheels for the German half-track can be imagined as a grid with two axes. One distinguishes the shape of the disk, the other the design of the tire. This item occupies the corner where the later pressed disk meets that less widespread off-road design. Anyone building to a particular period photograph will appreciate being able to choose exactly this combination of the two and not having to give up either detail.
The simplified disk came in at the moment when German production went over to the angular body welded from flat sheets. Vehicles of that form predominated on the fronts from 1943 onward and are the best documented in pictures, because the most of them were built. The design of the tire, by contrast, remains the rarer variant, so the finished machine will not look like every other one on the display table.
The seating of the pin corresponds to the kits of the Border Models company, so the axle stays unchanged. The edges of the grooves are cast sharply and the tire is smooth around the whole circumference, without the longitudinal trace that the opening mold leaves on an injected wheel.
The material is hard and at the same time brittle, so the gate is cut off, never broken off. After the surface has been leveled, a short bath in warm water with a degreaser and free drying will suffice. Only then come the primer and the shade according to the chosen unit. The vehicle itself the builder obtains separately.
The wheel is best set into the model only after the body has been painted. Otherwise the tread is needlessly dusted with a shade that does not belong on it, and its design is visually lost.
