The set is typically well arranged for building: turning wheels and turret, movable armament, photo-etched parts, and the package tends to hold a metal barrel and two figures as well, with the exact contents given on the box.
The Sd.Kfz.232 was a heavy eight-wheeled armored car (schwerer Panzerspähwagen) used by the German army for long-range reconnaissance. It carried a 2 cm quick-firing cannon and a machine gun in the turret, and a conspicuously large frame antenna above the hull, which belonged to its radio (Funk) equipment. Thanks to all-wheel drive and a second driver's station at the rear, it was agile in both directions. All-wheel drive and the second driver's station at the rear made it a nimble machine that could reverse quickly out of danger when it had to. We know it characteristically from the fighting in North Africa, where it ran in sand camouflage, but it was committed in the Balkans and on the Eastern Front as well.
Deal with the chassis and its wheels and with the interior before closing the hull. Glue the large frame antenna carefully on a flat surface, so that it sits parallel to the hull and does not twist. Degrease the metal barrel before fitting it and paint it separately, as metal holds paint better with a base coat. A sand base suits an African subject, with pronounced sun-bleaching of the horizontal surfaces and dust pigments on the lower areas and the wheels.
