About product

Eduard 1:35 — radio equipment for the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. C

A set of accurate 3D-printed parts of the radio equipment intended for the interior of a model of the German Sd.Kfz. 251/1 armored half-track personnel carrier in the Ausf. C version, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory for a model you already have. The 3D printing technology allows finer detail than can be produced in injection-molded plastic, and on the instruments, controls and brackets that shows at first glance. Check the exact number of parts and the color finish against the information on the packaging.

The real subject

The Sd.Kfz. 251 was a German armored half-track personnel carrier of the Second World War; the /1 version was the basic transport variant for an infantry squad. The Ausf. C is the third production version, recognizable among other things by its one-piece front armor plate. The vehicles carried a radio set with the matching brackets and wiring in the fighting compartment, so it is visible on a build with an open hull. That is exactly why it pays to work up the interior on this type: the model cannot be closed up, and the empty space where the radio set should be is obvious at first glance.

Building tips

First rinse the 3D-printed parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry: production residue would keep the paint from adhering. Cut the supports off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw, never break them off. The material is hard and brittle, so sand with fine paper and preferably wet, so that no dust is stirred up. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); cement for plastic will not join this material. Apply a primer before painting. Paint and weather the interior before you fit the upper parts and the equipment to the model.

Who the set is for

  • modelers building German Second World War equipment in 1:35 scale
  • those building a vehicle with an open fighting compartment who want a convincing interior
  • more experienced builders used to working with resin and printed parts
  • modelers preparing a vehicle for a diorama where the hull is visible

FAQ

It is not. This is an add-on set for the interior; the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. C kit in 1:35 scale has to be bought separately.

Cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. Ordinary cement for plastic will not join this material.

Yes. Rinse them in lukewarm soapy water, let them dry, and only then cut off the supports and apply a primer.

Expect to paint the set yourself. Check the color finish against the information on the packaging.
