An injection-molded plastic kit of the South African Olifant Mk.1B main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted kit intended for gluing and painting. The exact contents of the package (the number of parts, photo-etched parts, rubber or link-and-length tracks, decals) are not stated here.
The Olifant is a South African main battle tank derived from the British Centurion, which South Africa upgraded step by step. Compared with the earlier forms the Mk.1B version brought a marked improvement in protection and mobility: reworked armor of the hull and the turret, a new powerplant and revised running gear adapted to demanding African terrain. The tank was adapted for operation in heat and over long distances and it represents one of the main upgrade branches of the Centurion outside Europe.
Assemble and paint the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before you close the hull. Separate the parts with a knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. After spraying the base shade with an airbrush, bring out the welds, the hatches and the engraved detail with a dark wash. You will underline the character of African service with pronounced dusting and light pigments on the running gear and the lower surfaces of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
