The resin set imitates stowage and personal crew equipment placed on the M10 tank destroyer. On a vehicle with an open turret such detail is particularly rewarding, because a view from above reveals even what is hidden under the armor on other models. The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, and the model of the vehicle itself is not in the package.

The real subject

The M10 was an American tank destroyer built on a medium tank chassis, with a lightly armored hull and a characteristic open turret with sloped walls. The open top gave the crew a good view but at the same time exposed them to splinters and the weather, so tarpaulins, personal kit and improvised protection were stowed in the turret and on the hull. The nickname Wolverine came into use for this type above all in later literature and among modelers.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, separate the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces wet with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the stowage separately and put it in place only once the base color of the vehicle is finished, as otherwise you will not reach its underside. American vehicles keep to olive green tones, but let the stowage stand out in color so that it separates from the hull. Pick the tarpaulins out in the folds with a lighter shade, fine-tune the leather and textile parts with oil paints and at the end unify everything with a thinned wash and a light layer of dust.
