An unassembled plastic kit of the German Sturmgeschütz III assault gun in the Ausf. G version, and in the early production guise at that. According to the name it is a boxing with a full interior, that is, with the inside of the hull and the fighting compartment modeled. Rye Field Model is a brand known precisely for interior kits with a high number of parts.
The StuG III was a German assault gun built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. It had no rotating turret — the main weapon was mounted in a fixed superstructure with limited traverse, which lowered the silhouette and simplified production. The Ausf. G version was the most numerously built guise of the type and carried a gun of 75 mm caliber with a long barrel. Early machines of this version differ from later ones in details of the superstructure, the design of the commander's cupola and the solution for protecting the weapon; it is precisely these differences that matter for a modeler when choosing a boxing.
With an interior kit, follow the instructions and above all do not hurry to close the hull: paint the inside, weather it and let it dry before you fit the superstructure. It pays to decide in advance how much of the interior will be visible in the end — if you close the model up, there is no point in finishing everything in detail. Finish and paint the running gear separately. For the outer surface an airbrush and building the shades up in layers come in handy, and for weathering a dark wash in the engravings, careful abrasion of the edges and dust pigments on the underside and in the wheel wells.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
