Captured Panther road wheels on the T-34 in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART: resin wheels for vehicles from factories 183 and 174. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set in 1:35 scale brings an unusual combination: road wheels from the German Panther tank fitted to the Soviet T-34. The set is cut for vehicles built by factories number 183 and 174. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic wheels on a model you already own, and the result is one of those conversions that everybody notices at a show.
When Soviet workshops ran out of their own road wheels, they reached for what was lying on the battlefield. Wheels from wrecked Panthers were the right size, so they appeared on repaired T-34s as an improvised substitute. A vehicle would then run with a mix of both types of wheel, or even entirely on captured ones. It is a documented feature of the late part of the war and a rewarding subject for modelers, because a single vehicle tells a story both of shortage and of the ability to improvise.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the surface with a file and protect your airways while sanding. Resin is bonded with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. It helps the look if you leave the captured wheels in a different shade from the rest of the vehicle, as though nobody had managed to repaint them. Finally, tie the running gear together with mud and dust.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
