The move to the 85 mm caliber was the answer to heavy opponents against which the older gun was losing its effect. The new turret was roomier and took a crew of three, so for the first time the commander did not have to aim as well and could devote himself to watching the ground and directing the fight. The outline of the machine changed too, and the markedly taller cast turret with its large rear overhang is a recognition feature of every model of this variant. The running gear stayed essentially the same and served faithfully for a long time after the war in many armies of the world.
The contents are two sheets with circular cutouts matching the wheels of the Dragon kit. They serve to separate the rubber tire from the metal disc during spraying, that is for work that is repeated many times over on a single model of tracked equipment.
Models of tracked equipment have this work unpleasantly multiplied. There tend to be ten or more wheels on each side and a faulty arc on any one of them is apparent when seen from the side. A ready cutout holds the same diameter throughout, so the result looks uniform and it is done in a single evening.
The hatches of the commander's cupola and the vision ports are not among the contents, as the set deals with the wheels exclusively.
