It is a proven, well buildable model with a pleasant breakdown of parts, which keeps its reputation as a reliable choice even after years. The late version is characterized by the typical changes to the turret, the hatches and the road wheels with steel rims.
The Tiger I is among the most iconic tanks of the Second World War. For armament it carried the 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun and a pair of machine guns, and its armor reached a considerable thickness. The late production version brought a number of changes: the commander's cupola with seven vision ports, a ring for an anti-aircraft machine gun, the relocation of the fume extractor and new road wheels with steel rims, which replaced the earlier wheels with rubber tire bands. These changes reflected operating experience from the fighting and the effort to simplify production and maintenance in the late phase of the war.
Finish the running gear first, and only then close the hull. Spray the base coat with an airbrush in a shade of Dunkelgelb, over which a three-color camouflage can be applied. Bring the edges out and soften the transitions. For weathering use a darker wash in the recesses, chipping on the edges and earth pigments on the running gear and the underside. The late road wheels with their steel rims deserve careful emphasis.
