About product

Eureka XXL - tow cable for the Sd.Kfz.184 Elefant (1:35)

This is not a model but a detail accessory from the Polish maker Eureka XXL. The metal tow cable in 1:35 scale is intended for a model of the German Sd.Kfz.184 Elefant heavy tank destroyer, the rebuilt version of the vehicle from 1944. The package contains braided metal (copper) wire rope and end eyes with which you replace the stiff plastic part from the kit.

Elefant, not the early Ferdinand

The Elefant came about by rebuilding the original Ferdinand - a hull machine gun, a commander's cupola and a Zimmerit coating were added. The length and the routing of the cable match this later rebuilt form.

Fitting and tips

  • Cut the wire rope to the length you need and set it into the end eyes
  • Fix the eyes with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue)
  • Shape a natural sag along the massive hull
  • Repaint and weather the end fittings together with the model, allowing for the Zimmerit

Who it is for

  • Builders of the Elefant model in 1:35 with an interest in realistic detail
  • More experienced modelers and advanced beginners
  • Fans of German Second World War vehicles

An accessory for a model, not a stand-alone kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. It is a detail accessory - a metal tow cable for a model of the Sd.Kfz.184 Elefant tank destroyer in 1:35 scale, not a kit.

The Elefant is the later rebuilt version (a hull machine gun, a commander's cupola, Zimmerit); the Ferdinand is the early form. The routing of the cable matches the particular form.

Braided wire rope can be shaped into an accurate sag and holds its shape, whereas a plastic casting stays stiff and straight.
